Area districts seeking teachers

More than 21 Texas school districts, including North East ISD, will be hiring teachers at a regional teacher job fair to be held this week.

North East ISD will be attending the Educator Job Fair sponsored by the San Antonio Area Personnel Administrators Association July 16-17 between 9:00 a.m. and noon at the Paul Taylor Field House located on Loop 410 near Culebra Road.

School districts from across Bexar County and beyond are looking for teachers, administrators, counselors, and speech pathologists. On Tuesday, July 16, those interested in elementary positions should attend, and Wednesday, July 17 is for secondary-level positions. Grades 4-8 and all-level applicants may attend either day. Interviews will be held for select applicants from 1:00-4:00 p.m. each day.

Currently, North East ISD is planning to fill approximately 50 positions within the district. The positions are spread throughout elementary and secondary levels.

There is no registration fee to attend the fair, but applicants should bring multiple copies of their resume and teaching certificates, and complete each school district’s online application prior to arrival.

The spike in teacher hiring is a result of the state adding $3.4 billion in “restoration funds” to education funding for the biennium (next two years).

School districts participating include Aldine ISD, Crystal City ISD, Cypress Fairbanks ISD, Eagle Pass ISD, Edgewood ISD, Floresville ISD, Harlandale ISD, Harlingen ISD, Hondo ISD, Jourdanton ISD, Judson ISD, Kerrville ISD, Medina Valley ISD, North East ISD, Northside ISD, Pearsall ISD, Pleasanton ISD, San Antonio ISD, Somerset ISD, Southside ISD, and Uvalde CISD.
