Texas Education Agency - AYP Update

In February 2013, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) submitted a waiver to the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) for flexibility on the requirements under the federal accountability system known as the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) or No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The flexibility would impact the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) rating system. According to information distributed by TEA on August 9, no new AYP school choice will be offered until further notice from the state. All students who are not currently on AYP School Choice will start the 2013-2014 school year at their home campus.

Since TEA is in ongoing conversations with the USDE, the state has decided to temporarily suspend AYP-related School Improvement Program Requirements prior to the start of the 2013-2004 school year.North East ISD has not received any AYP ratings for its campuses and will not be sending any parent notification until further notice from the state.
