NEISD Celebrates National School Nurse Day
They are always there to help our children in their time of need and now it’s our turn to thank them. May 6-10 is National Nurse Week and May 8 has been designated as National School Nurse Day. It is a time to honor the more than 74,000 school nurses who make a difference in the lives of children every day.
This year’s theme, “Advocacy, Success, and Achievement: Leading the Way,” captures school nurses’ significant role in improving students’ health and academic outcomes. North East ISD’s school nurses lead the way by ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future for our students.
“For many of our students, our nurses are the only health care providers they see on a regular basis,” said Dr. Brian G. Gottary, superintendent of schools. “They not only treat illnesses and injuries, but also conduct health screenings, monitor student immunizations, offer referral information, and provide educational health activities and information.”
Be sure to go out of your way the next few days and thank your nurses for their dedication to the well-being of our students.
North East ISD Health Services Department was recently recognized by the Texas Dental Association for their excellence in supporting and implementing programs to benefit the dental health and welfare of at risk children in the district.
