Lopez hosts Mother's Day breakfast
Lopez Middle School celebrated its inaugural Mother's Day breakfast on May 10. More than 200 moms and their children gathered in the Lopez cafeteria Friday morning for an early Mother's Day celebration. Hosted by SIC (Student Involvement Committee), the event was a huge success.
All in attendance enjoyed a breakfast catered by Freebirds World Burrito, with donuts, coffee, and the works. The line for breakfast was all the way around the cafeteria. Everyone was very pleased with the great turnout. The guests of honor were even serenaded by the award winning Lopez Choir, under the direction of Amy Kelley.
Katie Stevens, coordinator of the event, was blessed enough to have her mother, Barbara Stevens, the IIT at Huebner Elementary School, with her to celebrate. The feedback from all the mothers who attended was overwhelmingly positive, and many said they were grateful and honored that the school chose to celebrate Mother's Day. Here at Lopez, we want to honor the special women in our lives, and this was one way we felt we could. In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother."
