NEISD teachers win math and science awards

Four North East ISD teachers were selected as winners of the Outstanding Math and Science Teaching Award for 2012 by the San Antonio Mathematics and Science Education Coalition.

Winners were:

Caroline Newsome, Walzem Elementary School

Matthew Patty, Jackson Middle School

Kristen Guerra, Tejeda Middle School

Cacey Wells, International School of the Americas

In partnership with H-E-B, the prize presenters, along with district staff, surprised the teachers in front of their colleagues and students. Part of the prize was a check for $1,000.

A public awards ceremony for all winners will be held at ESC 20 on Feb. 15.
