North East ISD recognized for fit & Healthy culture
North East ISD was recognized by the San Antonio Business Group on Health (SABGH) and the Mayor’s Fitness Council on May 21 for its promotion of employee wellness. Joined by Sharon Glosson, executive director of School Nutrition and Mario Ward, director of Risk Management, Steve Tovar, senior director of Employee Benefits and Risk Management, accepted the gold-level recognition award from Mayor Julian Castro.
NEISD earned the recognition through the 2013 Healthy Workplace Recognition Program, which honored the district’s efforts to encourage employee health and wellness.
NEISD programs such as “Team NEISD” and the “Get Fit Challenge” played a big part in bringing the award to the district for the second year in a row and for the third time since the SABGH program’s inception. The Get Fit Challenge motivates employees to compete with other area businesses and school districts at local marathons like the San Antonio Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in November.
