neisd celebrates national school counseling week
The week of Feb. 4 - 8, 2013 has been designated by the American School Counselor Association as National School Counseling Week. This week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
The North East ISD Board of Trustees also made this official proclamation on Jan. 14, during a public board meeting to celebrate and acknowledge its counselors.
NEISD counselors implement comprehensive school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century. School counselors work in partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today's world. These dedicated professionals help students focus on academic, personal/social and career development to ensure success in school and future fulfillment as responsible members of society.
Counselor roles encompass promoting college and career readiness, educating every student on the importance of choosing rigorous courses, increasing student achievement through membership on the Campus Leadership Team, providing information regarding ever-changing graduation requirements and calculation of class rank, affording equitable access to post-secondary opportunities, and personalizing each student’s educational experience.
"On behalf of myself, the board and our executive staff, I want to express our deepest gratitude to these important school professionals," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian G. Gottardy. "They provide vital guidance and direction that help put our students on the road to success."
