NEISD schools help toys for tots

DATE: dec 10
TIME: 10 am- 3:30 pm
LOCATION: North Central Baptist Hospital

Several North East ISD schools will participate in Welcome Home's annual Stone Oak Winter Celebration on December 10 at North Central Baptist Hospital. These schools, including Wilderness Oak Elementary, Canyon Ridge Elementary, Stone Oak Elementary, Roan Forest Elementary, Hardy Oak Elementary, Bush Middle School, Reagan High School and Johnson High School, will be collecting toys to be donated to the U.S. Marine Toys for Tots drive. In exchange, students who donate will receive three tickets to be used at Winter Celebration (a raffle ticket, free photo with Santa, and a free slide ride).

Last year, the schools collected a total of 2,700 toys. This drive has been the largest contributor to Toys for Tots in San Antonio over the past few years. About 15 different NEISD choirs, bands, twirlers, dance, cheer and JROTC groups will be performing during the event.

Winter Celebration offers entertainment for all ages. A parade led by the Reagan High School Band and the U.S. Marines will kick off the festivities. Children can enjoy carnival rides, bouncy castles, Texas-style ice skating and real snow! Don’t forget your boots and mittens – children can also enjoy snowy downhill sledding, new this year! Of course, Santa will join the celebration, descending from the sky by AirLife helicopter!

A new, unwrapped toy donation to the U.S. Marine’s Toys for Tots organization gets you free admission along with a raffle ticket, free slide ride, and free photo with Santa! Hundreds of gifts will be raffled off throughout the day. Vendors will provide holiday shopping options and arts and crafts for children. Several local restaurants including Copeland’s of New Orleans, Chick-Fil-A, Cool Café, Gigi’s Cupcakes, The Egg & I, Smokey Mo’s, Big Apple Bagel, Rome’s Pizza and more will be there.
