ISA and Lee host PEACE festival

DATE: Apr. 13
TIME: 5-6:30 pm
LOCATION: ISA, 1400 jackson keller rd

Student groups at Lee High School and the International School of the Americas (ISA) will hold the first annual Community PEACE Festival on Apr. 13. The result of cooperative planning between ISA Senior Nikki Santiago and Lee World Language teacher Carol Arnold, the PEACE Festival invites student groups across the Lee/ISA/NESA/STEM campus to celebrate the diversity of their student body, local neighborhood and broader San Antonio community.

In June 2011, Santiago travelled to Aspen, Colorado, with the Bezos Family Foundation. As a student scholar, she attended the Bezos Scholars Program @The Aspen Institute where she spent a week learning about big ideas, global challenges and how to address these challenges. Santiago returned to San Antonio with the charge to affect positive change in her community by planning and hosting her own local ideas festival.

During the week of April 9 - 13, the campus will host events that invite students to dialogue on topics such as global volunteerism, cultural awareness and the role of language in cultural diffusion.

On April 13, the community is invited to attend the PEACE Festival to learn more the myriad of student and global cultural groups that live in the San Antonio community.
