NEISD campuses make higher performing schools list
North East ISD had seven campuses make the National Center for Educational Achievement’s (NCEA) 2011 Higher Performing Schools list including: Hardy Oak Elementary, Huebner Elementary, Harris Middle, Eisenhower Middle, Lopez Middle, Bush Middle, and Lee High School. This honor recognizes only 11 percent of the state’s public schools.
NCEA uses value-added analysis with three years of data to determine schools that perform above predicted. These higher performing schools are described by NCEA as those schools which have had consistently more success in preparing students for college and careers than their peers who serve similar student populations.
Schools are identified for this designation by looking at student growth from one year to the next, instead of percentages of student’s meeting the standard on the state assessment. Commended performance on the TAKS is used as a second measure. Schools with this designation must also meet the federal standard, Adequate Yearly Process (AYP) for academic performance by having Met Adequate Yearly Progress as well as the state assessment requirements through the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS).
