Madison JROTC drill teams and color guard compete

The Madison JROTC Drill Teams and Color Guards competed at the 5th Brigade Drill Team Championships at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center, Saturday, Feb. 9.

The Lady Maverick Guard, commanded by Cadet Major Melissa Kidder, placed 1st in Regulation and 3rd in Inspection. Even though they were a brand new team this year, they received an overall placement of 4th.

The Maverick Guard, commanded by Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jordan Choate, placed 1st in Exhibition, 1st in Inspection, and 4th in Regulation while the Patriot Color Guard, commanded by Cadet Captain Nick Mrzlak, finished with 2nd place.

The Maverick Guard received an overall placing of 1st, the Grand Champions!

Both Teams earned their way to Army Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky on April 6th!
