MacArthur implementing new traffic pattern at campus
MacArthur High School administration has implemented a new traffic pattern on campus to help with safety and traffic flow. The front circle will be closed starting at 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily, making this space available for emergency vehicles only.
On a permanent basis, the driveway right next to the front circle has become an Exit Only and the driveway at the far end nearest to CVS store has become an Entrance Only. This creates a single flow of traffic making it easier to enter and exit the campus. Parents are asked to not park or wait at the curb, as it will impede traffic. Parents can park in a parking space to wait for their child.
One important area of safety that has not changed is the 10 mph speed limit in the parking lot. This is enforced on campus at all times.
As a result of the changes, the morning and afternoon traffic has improved. According to Principal Peter Martinez, “I think that one of the best things I have seen is the courtesy and cooperation of the majority of our drivers. Working together makes things better for everyone.”
