MacArthur senior class donates to "Toys for Tots"
The MacArthur High School Senior Class found a fun way to give back this holiday season, through spending two weeks collecting donations for Toys for Tots. The students collected well over 500 toys for the organization. The goal of the U. S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots organization is to collect new toys in the months of October, November, and December to give to children in need in the area from which they are collected during the holidays.
By collecting toys, the Senior Class at MacArthur were able to have some fun by revisiting the toy aisles of their favorite stores. Many students from other classes, teachers, and members of the community also contributed toys to the donation boxes. The collection efforts were also bolstered by a generous donations from National Honor Society and PAL's.
The Senior Class Officers are thankful for all of the donations that were received, and to have been a part of something meaningful this holiday season.
As part of the Toys for Tots program, MacArthur JROTC representatives attended the AUSA Support Toys for Tots - Marine Drive on Dec. 11. Colonel Dodson (Commander 5th Brigade, U.S. Army Cadet Command) and SMA (13th) Preston took time to speak to the cadets. In attendance were many graduates from Corp of Cadets Texas A&M (Retired & Active LTC & Colnels) and they each took some time to speak to the cadets as well. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the students.
