On January 22, the MacArthur High SchoolLibrary welcomed Betsey Leitko, Teen Services Librarian from the Tobin Branch of the San Antonio Public Library, to host a Teen Time activity. The San Antonio Public Library offers Teen Time programming and other services to young people in the community. Leitko provided craft activities such as bubble magnets, a button maker, and perler beads for MacArthur students during a lunch period. Leitko will provide more Teen Time activities during lunches at MacArthur on February 26 and March 26.
Leitko will also film video announcements to air on campus advertising teen services offered by the public library. The Teen Services Librarian's visits are an important part of community outreach for both the public library and MacArthur’s school library. “Building the bridge between our school libraries and public libraries is incredibly important for our young adults," said school librarian Janelle Richard. "It’s important that students understand the resources that are available via the public library system after they finish their high school careers.”
