Lopez celebrates veterans day

Lopez Veterans Day

The Reagan Color Guard posts the colors for the ceremony.

Lopez Middle School students started early in showing their appreciation for our Veterans by participating in, Operation Gratitude. Students wrote letters to our Veterans letting them know how thankful we are to for their dedication to our country.

This year, the campus honored our veterans and the sacrifies they have made by hosting a Breakfast for the Brave. The Breakfast for the Brave was held in the library on November 8, from 7:30 a.m.-8:18a.m. Throughout the week video announcements have included interviews from Veterans and during the Breakfast for the Brave a Veteran's Video Collage will be playing displaying pictures of service members from our local community, including families and staff members from our Lopez community.

Lopez Veterans Day

Dr. Lanford is presented with an American flag that few over Iraq by a special Lopez parent serving in the military.

We had approximately 70 Veterans and their families attend along with a special guest, a 90-year-old veteran. This has been such a wonderful opportunity to get our campus involved in the Veteran's Day Celebration as we have the boys and girls Lopez choir and Reagan Boys Choir, performing the National Anthem along with the Lopez orchestra led by Ms. Kelley, Choir Director, and Ms. Sorgi, Orchestra Director.

The Reagan Color Guard will be posting our colors and the local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Troops handed out roses to the Veterans. The students from Ms. Preiss' Family and Consumer Science have prepared a delicious breakfast and will be serving the guests along with students from the Lopez National Junior Honor Society and PALS program. The PTA provided patriotic decorations for this event. It was a special day at Lopez and it was an honor to give back to a group of special people who sacrifice so much for our freedom.
