Lee culinary students take first place at Paella Challenge

Constructing the perfect paella is no easy feat. The Valencian dish is steeped in tradition and it takes a top chef to master the right combination of flavors. Lucky for Lee High School, the Culinary Arts program happens to have a handful of top chefs. The culinary arts team produced a first place paella dish at the 5th Annual Paella Challenge hosted by the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and HEB on March 6.

Lee culinary arts students competed against five area schools, each determined to create the most impressive paella dishes. The students and their culinary arts instructor, Debbie Rohan, will be traveling to Hyde Park, New York to visit the CIA campus. Students will participate in cooking classes alongside current CIA students.
