Johnson Orchestra Peforms at a charity event
Students bring an inspiration performance to the event.
On November 4, the Johnson High School Varsity Orchestra, directed by Karen George, performed for a number of United States Veterans, their families and other guests, during the opening ceremony of Birdies for the Brave – a golf tournament fundraiser for Wounded Warriors.
The event was hosted by the J.W. Marriott Hill Country hotel in San Antonio. Johnson choir member, Emma Bjornson, sang the Star Spangled Banner, accompanied by the Varsity Orchestra to the delight of the many guests, who voiced their positive comments at the end of the performance. The audience praised the young orchestra members for their talent and included in their statements how having the orchestra as part of the program, added a level of sophistication to the ceremony.
The Wounded Warrior Project is national organization that provides recreation and adaptive sports programs to U.S. soldiers who have been injured in battle.
The Johnson Orchestra is proud and honored to have had the opportunity to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have selflessly sacrificed so much for their country.
