Johnson athlete is the ESPN Player of the WEek
ESPN’s Dat Nguyen paid a surprise visit to Johnson High School girls soccer standout, Nia Stallings on April 18. The young athlete was selected as the ESPN Player of the Week for her amazing efforts on and off the field. Dat, the former Texas A&M Aggie and Dallas Cowboy linebacker, was on hand to present her a certificate. “I just found out about this today,” said an excited Nia who leads the team in goals this season. Nia’s parents, coaches and the rest of her team were there to cheer on her latest athletic achievement.
Coming off a playoff defeat last year, the Jaguars are plenty motivated as they take on Southlake Carroll in the 5A state semifinals at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown. Led by soccer coach Kara Stracener, the Jaguars would break a streak of twenty years if the girls bring a soccer state championship to San Antonio.
