jackson-keller teachers awarded by office max

Jackson-Keller Elementary School teachers Caleb Jackson and Ashlee Lara were surprised on Oct. 4 "A Day Made Better" by Office Max representatives in their classrooms. They were each awarded $1,000 in classroom supplies. The presentations were a complete surprise to them and their students. They were nominated because of their commitment and dedication to their students and profession.

A large box of supplies was also donated to the school to use as they wish.

"This is especially wonderful for our teachers this time of year," said Jackson-Keller Principal Anna Nicolai. "They work so hard and this will go a long way to boost moral and make them feel appreciated."

About A Day Made Better
Teachers spend approximately $1,000 out of their own pockets on school supplies each year to offset school budget shortfalls and ensure their students have the necessary classroom resources for learning. OfficeMax’s A Day Made Better program, in partnership with Adopt-A-Classroom, aims to help end the need for teacher-funded classrooms.

Since 2007, OfficeMax’s A Day Made Better and its nonprofit partner Adopt-A-Classroom have funded more than 5,500 classrooms with more than $5.5 million in school supplies, and helped secure funding for more than 66,000 classrooms through donations to Adopt-A-Classroom.
