The International School of the Americas’ Model United Nations San Antonio (MUNSA) program will be hosting a 5K Freedom Run/Walk at Olmos Basin Park on November 9, from 7:00-10:00 a.m. Olmos Basin Park is located at 651 Devine Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. Admission is $20.00 before October 28, and includes an event t-shirt. After October 28, the late registration fee will be $25.00, and registrants cannot expect to receive their preferred shirt size. The registration form can be found here. On the day of the event, door prizes will be awarded.
Proceeds from the Freedom Run will support the International Justice Mission (IJM), a human rights agency working to eradicate slavery, sexual exploitation, and other forms of violent oppression. Each year MUNSA partners with a NGO whose humanitarian efforts correlate with the theme of the conference. Hosted at Trinity University from January 8-10, 2014, this year’s conference, entitled MUNSA XVIII: Odyssey, focuses on the international theme of human migration.
The goal for this year’s conference is to raise $4,500 for IJM.
Now in its eighteenth year, MUNSA is the largest student-run Model United Nations conference held in the western United States, with over 1,000 participants from the San Antonio area, the state of Texas, the United States of America, and Mexico.
