Huebner geared up for operation summer reading

Huebner Elementary School hosted it's first annual summer reading night, Operation Summer Reading: Spy a Great Book, on May 29. Participating families geared up for summer reading by completing five very important missions.

Mission #1: Students were permitted to check out up to 10 books from the Huebner Library to read over the summer.
Mission #2: Youth Services Librarian, Sheila Acosta from the Cody Public Library, informed families about San Antonio Public Library summer reading program, Dig Into Reading, and students were able to secure their own library card.
Mission #3: Faye Hagerty and Dee Dee Davenport from Northeast ISD Library Services taught parents and students how to check out electronic books through Overdrive.
Mission #4: Students obtained a free book to add to their home library from the staff of Half-Price Books.
Mission #5: Students participated in a Top Secret reading program presented by motivational speaker, Julian Franklin.

Before embarking on their missions, families fueled up at one of the on-site food trunks, Gourmet on the Fly and Say She Ate.
