Hardy Oak students visited by true historians

Hardy Oak Elementary School was excited to have The Sons of the American Revolution speak to their fourth graders at an assembly on Friday, Mar. 8.

They came in replicas of uniforms showing how an officer, militia man, a minuteman, and a teacher would look in that era. They explained where their ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War and brought exact replicas of muskets and equipment used at that time.

Because we are a Core Knowledge school, we study the American Revolution from its causes to the Treaty of Paris. The students were able to ask questions and came away with a greater understanding of that time at the wonderful assembly.

The photo below shows the following speakers from the Sons of the American Revolution from left to right: Hal Atkinson, Jay Lewallen, Diane Lewallen, and Frank Rohrbough.
