Colonial Hills student recognized for her diligence
Colonial Hills Elementary School student, Anzleigh Bryant, was recognized in front of her fellow classmates by District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg on Sept. 6 for her diligence and citizenship. The third grade student attended a recent City Council meeting to voice her concerns regarding proposed rate increases for San Antonio Parks and Recreation dance classes.
“I had butterflies.” said Anzleigh as she answered questions about addressing city council, “But if the city raises the rates, then I won’t be able to participate in ballet or folklorico.” The young student waited until after midnight to give her speech as city council covered multiple issues including the controversial Anti-Discrimination Policy debate.
Anzleigh’s mom was present for the award ceremony and spoke of the courage her daughter displayed and the confidence in which she gave her speech. They are hoping to find out soon, what the outcome will be regarding the rate increases.
