churchill oral interpretation team shines - tournaments ahead
The Churchill High School Oral Interpretation team has had a hugely successful start of the 2011-2012 competitive season. Students in the program have prepared performances in the following events: Prose, Poetry, Dramatic, Humorous, Duet Acting, Duo Interp and Original Oratory. The team has competed in seven tournaments since Sept 3, 2011. In that time, the members of the team have accomplished the following:
• Five first place overall sweepstakes awards at the Jay, Brandeis, O’Connor, MacArthur and Reagan high school tournaments.
• First place awards from the following students in various varsity level events: Adam Damon – Dramatic; Paul Homburg – Poetry; Hailey Medrano – Original Oratory and Duet Acting; Kelsi Morse – Original Oratory and Prose; Bianca Phipps – Original Oratory and Duo Interp; James Rodriguez – Duet Acting and Humorous; Chris Stewart – Duo Interp, Humorous and Prose; Ryan Stewart – Poetry.
• First place awards from the following students in novice level events: Montana Rowton – Prose; James Rodriguez – Prose, Meade Sawaya – Prose.
• New National Forensic League Memberships earned by the following students: James Rodriguez, Drew Stakes, Montana Rowton, Emily Pavlik, Meade Sawaya, Michelle Clarke, Meghan Harms, Maddie Villareal and McKenna Lazarin.
• Texas Forensics Association State Qualifications from the following students in various events:

Upcoming tournaments this semester include the NFL Novice Tournament on Nov. 12, the Glenbrooks Invitational in Chicago beginning on Nov. 18, and the University of Texas at Austin Invitational beginning on Dec. 2. We look forward to the continued success of the students in this acclaimed program.
