NEISD GED Center
GED (General Educational Development) Tests measure the outcome of a high school education. The GED Tests consist of five tests, one in each of these subjects: Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Writing Skills, and Interpreting Literature and the Arts. Adaptations to testing conditions are permitted for adults with disabilities.
Important: You must register to take any part of the GED exam. Registration can be completed at NEISD Community Learning Center - 8750 Tesoro Dr. Registration Hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Thursday.
First Time Testers:
You must bring the following with you to register:
- Current Texas Picture ID (Texas Drivers License, Military ID or other government issued picture ID)
- If you are 17 years of age- permanent withdrawal from last school attended and must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
You will be required to:
- Pay $35 test processing fee plus $12 for each of the five tests(Total $95)
- Complete the official GED Registration information and bring it with you on the testing date.
On Testing Day you will be required to:
- Show currrent Texas Picture ID, Texas Driver's License, or Military ID
- Show registration receipt
- Complete a GED Scantron form each time you test.
- You may qualify for special accommodations if you have a documented learning disablity. Form must be completed and returned at least one month prior to the testing date to allow for the request to be reveiwed.
Passing Requirements - An average of the five individual subject area test scores of 450 or greater; in addition, each individual subject area test score must be 410 or greater.
GED TESTING CNETER LOCATION AND HOURS: The GED Testing Center is located at 8750 Tesoro Dr. The testing center opens at 7:30 a.m. for check-in. The tests will be given at the specific times indicated. All students must check in no later than 15 minutes before testing time. Math- 8:00a.m., Language Arts, Writing - 10:05 a.m., Science - 1:15 p.m., Social Studies - 2:40 p.m., Language Arts, Reading - 3:55 p.m. All studnets must leave the campus during lunch from 12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Each test is timed and you may not bring calculators, dictionaries, or paper with you. Cell phones, pagers, watches, food/drinks, and back packs are not allowed in the testing room.
TO-RETEST:
You must:
- Wait six months before you can retest. However, if you can provide a letter from the teacher to certify that you are attending an official study program, you may retest sooner.
- Register at NEISD Community Education - 8750 Tesoro Dr.
- Show current Texas Picture ID, Texas Driver's License or Military ID
- Pay $12 for each test you retake
- Present Official TEA GED Score Notification Letter
