Program Information
The North East ISD Adult Education Program offers FREE:
- GED Preparation Classes GED preparation classes will assist individuals to pass the GED examination which is the equivalence exam to a high school diploma. Subjects covered are: Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.
- Adult Basic Education Classes Adult Basic Education classes focuses on Reading, Writing, Language Arts, and Mathematics.
- GED/Job Preparation (TANF - Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) Classes TANF/GED/Job Preparation classes assist adults in developing skills and knowledge necessary to obtain employment, obtain a GED certificate, and become self-sufficient.
- English as a Second Language Classes English as a Second Language classes focuses on learning how to speak, read, understand, and write the English language.
Student Eligibility
The North East ISD Adult Education Program provides instructional services for individuals:
who has attained the age of 16 years;
who are not enrolled or required to be enrolled in secondary school;
who do not have a high school diploma or GED certificate;
who are unable to speak, read, or write the English language.
Individuals who are 17 years of age must provide written permission from legal guardian and official withdrawal papers to enroll into the program. Individuals who are 16 years of age need the above documentation, along with court order documentation.
